New stations keep popping up all around the country. Here are those that are planned to open in the future.
Latest News
6th May 2025: Work starts on Charfield station.
Charfield station will be located on the line between Bristol and Gloucester.
Network Rail confirmed via Twitter that work had begun. The station is expected to open Spring 2027. It is proposed that it will be served by an hourly service giving the area a quicker option into Bristol or Gloucester than the current road option allows.
1st May 2025: Golborne Station Planning approved.
It's over 64 years since the town of Golborne lost it's passenger station, but thanks to planning been approved, passengers will soon be able to access the national rail network at Golborne! The station is expected to cost £32million. Final detailed plans are now been worked on and spade in ground is expected to happen in 2026 with services expected to start serving the station in 2027. The services calling will by a hourly Wigan to Manchester service.

Green light for £32m Golborne station with local firm appointed to design it
22nd April 2025: Liverpool Baltic Planning approved!
The up and coming region of Baltic Triangle in Liverpool is all go for a new station. The station will become a key driving force in the growth and expansion of the area. At first glance the £100million price tag is slightly crazy. But once you start to take into account it is a sub surface station then the cost starts to make sense. Work is planned to start on the road layouts around the station later this year. The actual station work is planned to start early in 2026. The target for the station to open is by the end of 2027.
Liverpool Baltic is the 1st station to be approved out of 4 that Liverpool City Region are proposing. The rest are Daresbury (Halton), Woodchurch (Wirral) and Carr Mill (St Helens). I will be keeping an eye on these.
